First, look at your network (social media and beyond), and come up with a number of how many people are in it. Then, multiply that by the amount you think you could raise from each person. Then you’ll have the figure of how much your total network is potentially worth. This is a good place to start, but base your funding goal on how much you need while also taking into account the per transaction fees.

Initially you may believe that you do not know people who have the money to lend you, but think outside the box! Think of people beyond your personal family and friends: Consider your co-workers, community and pastors, prior teachers, local businesses, or anybody that thinks highly of you. These people want you to succeed. You will be surprised at just who is willing to contribute.

If you’re raising money for something that you strongly believe in, chances are that the people in your life will be eager to support you. NaijaFund gives you the easy-to-use features to share your story with your family, friends, loved ones and community. Every campaign organizer should connect their Facebook account, use a high-quality campaign photo and clearly explain why they’re raising money. Sharing your campaign on Facebook is the single most important thing you can do. For more tips, please visit: 5 Steps to a Successful Campaign. Spread the word about your campaign to as many people as possible. Most of your initial funding will come from your network. And that is for one basic reason: Trust. It is the catalyst that gets the funding ball rolling. As you prepare to launch, view your network as having three levels.
• Level 1 – Friends, Family, and Dedicated Fans – Contribute first because trust and relationship is already established
• Level 2 – Friends-of-Friends and Acquaintances – Contribute after ‘trust signals’ are sent (i.e., see other people contribute or see other people buzzing about your project via online discussions or press)
• Level 3 – Broader Connections and the Crowd – Contribute last because it takes more work to gain their attention and win trust
Projects that raise the most are ones that start with Levels 1 and 2, and build momentum into the Levels 3.

Every NaijaFund campaign is given a unique link that’s easy to share with. Sharing your fundraising campaign is easy using NaijaFund’s built-in features like email invitations and Facebook posting.

The more excitement you generate for your campaign, the more likely it is to be featured on the NaijaFund home page. We measure factors like social sharing, contributions, campaign updates, page traffic and other activity. The more active you are, and the more effort you make, the more likely it is that your campaign will be featured. NaijaFund does NOT take requests for placement on the front page.
