💬 Project Description
Wankwase is a powerful dance and storytelling project that centers the voices of girls and women who have experienced sexual abuse in Nigeria. Set in Gishiri village, Abuja, this five-week project will use movement, community dialogue, and live performance to break the silence and challenge the stigma surrounding abuse.

The process will include interviews, workshops with young dancers, and the creation of a full-length dance piece that will tour both live and online. This is not just a performance—Wankwase is a cultural intervention.

Campaign Story

In Nigeria, sexual abuse remains one of the most underreported and culturally silenced crimes. Survivors—especially girls and women—are often blamed, shamed, or ignored. Wankwase is a dance project rooted in advocacy. It uses performance to expose the harsh realities of sexual abuse and ignite collective responsibility. This work is built on the lived experiences of women in Gishiri village fct abuja nigeria .  Their stories are not isolated; they represent a wider crisis. Wankwase seeks to transform these stories into movement—making the invisible visible, the unheard heard. We aim to challenge harmful cultural norms, educate communities, and empower girls to speak their truth without fear. Your support helps us create a work that doesn’t just raise awareness—it demands accountability, healing, and change.
