Campaign Story
My name is Timileyin, and I am a 200-level student studying Software engineering
I have always believed that education is the key to a better future—not just for myself, but for my family. That belief has kept me going through long nights of studying, difficult exams, and the constant hustle to make ends meet.
But right now, I am at a crossroads.
I am supposed to resume school next month, and I am nowhere near ready. The truth is, my guardians are doing everything they can, but they simply cannot afford to provide all the things I need for this upcoming session. They have sacrificed so much already just to keep me in school, and I cannot keep putting this burden on them.
What I Actually Need
Here is the reality of what I am facing:
· A Laptop: This is my biggest need. In today’s academic world, almost everything is done digitally—assignments, research, online classes, group projects, and even exams. Without a laptop, I will be left behind. I cannot type essays on my phone. I cannot run the software my lecturers require. I have found a reliable, affordable laptop that will carry me through the rest of my studies, but I cannot afford it on my own.
· Textbooks and Academic Materials: My course requires specific textbooks and materials that are not optional. Renting or buying used copies still costs more than I can currently afford.
· Basic Supplies and a Small Buffer: Things like notebooks, printing costs, internet data for research, and transportation to and from campus. I also want to have a little something set aside so I don’t have to panic every time an unexpected school expense comes up.
Why I Am Asking Strangers for Help
I am not the type of person who enjoys asking for handouts. I have always preferred to work hard and earn what I get. But sometimes, life places you in a position where you cannot do it all alone, and swallowing your pride is the only way forward.
I am asking because I believe in the power of community. I believe that there are kind people out there who understand that education changes lives. I am not asking for luxury—I am asking for the tools I need to complete my degree and build a future where I will no longer have to beg.
My Promise to You
I promise that every single naira/dollar donated will go directly toward my education. I will use this opportunity wisely, and I will not waste the kindness you are showing me.
When I graduate, I am going to look back at this moment and remember the strangers who believed in me when I had nothing. And I promise to pay it forward—to help another struggling student the way you are helping me today.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Whether you donate or simply share my campaign, you are already making a difference in my life.
With all my gratitude,
Timileyin.
