My name Abigail Anyorikyo from Benue State, I write to request for financial assistance for a spine surgery.   I was born with a spine deformity, sometime in 2004, I was diagnosed with a spinal cord disease referred to as scoliosis.  I was placed on physiotherapy and pain relief drugs at Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi.  A review of the case sometime in 2004 showed I was not responding to treatment and was referred to National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala, Kano, Kano State.   At the National Orthopaedic Hospital Dala, between 2004 and 2007 placed on pain relief drugs and given thoracolumbar brace to correct the curvature of my spine.  This equally failed and my spine curve went up to 40 degree.  I was finally recommended for surgery (spinal fusion) and referred to the National Orthopedic Hospital Enugu.   In 2008, the National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu, the only surgeon that could handle scoliosis cases at that time for the surgery used Harrington rod to hold the spine.  I was on a cast for about a year and was later removed in 2009 and in 2010, she had a first pain trigger on my spine.  Because of proximity, they had to immediately rush me to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital; Kano (AKTH) where I was stabilized and later moved to National Orthopaedic Hospital Dala and was recommended to be on a brace. In spite of all these treatment, i continue to breakdown at different intervals and following recommendations from medical experts I revisited National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala again on 21st August 2023.  Report of the examination indicates I have partial paralysis due to compression at my spine and needs.  IMMEDIATE surgery for a spinal fusion to avoid more nerve damage.  Cost of this procedure and other associated cost is about N2.2M I have no choice than to passionately appeal to you to provide financial assistance to me to enable me fund my medical treatment.
