Short Story

One very core and frequent problem customized apparels poses is inadequate availability to meet up the ever growing diverse demands, in places where they are always needed. I already started a little way of having sales and delivery outlets/kiosks in areas where demands are always coming in high quantity. One of the products of customized apparels that is always in high demand (higher than the supply most times) is plain round neck t-shirts and plain hoodie. But first, plain round neck t-shirt is the focus of this capital investment proposal. Lagos Island is the only main source to get bulk quantity of plain t-shirt. The sales and delivery outlets/kiosks eliminates the stress customers who needs plain round neck t-shirts go through while buying from Lagos Island themselves, because my own mass production will bring the supply of plain round neck t-shirts closer to them via sales outlets/kiosks and doorstep delivery.

  • Business capital investment goal, vision and mission statement:

Goal: To buy the raw fabric and other necessary supplies directly from the source, at ngwua road, in aba, abia state, so to cut down expenses at a really tremendous rate. Vision: To sew a minimum of 5,000 pieces of plain round neck t-shirts, which will consist of a minimum of 25 different colours. Mission: to make the quality plain t-shirts available in those areas where the demands lack adequate supply, places where there are tertiary institutions all over the nation, places with high demand that are far from Lagos Island, which is the only main source to get bulk quantity of plain t-shirt. Campaign Story

  • Introduction to the business and the work I do:

I own a sewing factory, I use in running mass clothing production business that is focused on the manufacturing (sewing) and the printing (branding) of customized urban apparels, such as round neck t-shirt, polo shirt, hoodie, varsity jacket, sweatshirt, crop-top, etc. I buy the raw textile materials/fabric from the local market in lagos, in various colours and textures of fabric (cotton and hoodie fabrics) to cut and sew them into various sizes as the demand demands.

  • My unique approach to solving the most frequent customized apparels problem:

PROJECT OVERVIEW This project is borne out of the discovery I made after doing a little investment into plain round neck t-shirt production and the dynamics of its demand and supply. I found out there are some avoidable challenges customers face:

  • CHALLENGES:

*There are incessant demands not met with adequate supply, especially the tertiary institution space of students and commercial areas that are far from lagos island. *Low quality fabrics are used to produce most of the well-known and well-patronized imported brands of plain round neck t-shirts, which they buy only because there are no other “almost good” brand they can get in bulk quantity. *Customers can only get quality fabric of plain t-shirt when they spend more, which does not necessarily have to be so. *Customers who need few units of quantity have to spend more on the products and logistics than they would have if there is a sales outlet close to them or a door step delivery service available. *The sizes of the imported brands have a number of inconsistencies: there are some that will have different size labels but will turn out to be the same in actual size tape rule measurement.

  • SOLUTIONS:
  • *I will make sales and delivery outlets/kiosks in areas where there are demands with less available supplies. And make doorstep deliveries seamless and stress-free.

*The fabrics I use for the plain round neck t-shirt, though also imported from Asian countries into aba, abia state, are bought with “hand-pick” scrutiny from loads of fabrics in the ngwua road big market, So the fabric will always come out to be quality cotton. *Customers will get same good quality fabric plain round neck t-shirt for the same cost-effective price. *Customers can buy as low as one piece of plain round neck t-shirt at only necessary costs, as they will be buying from an outlet close to them or get a doorstep delivery. *The sizes I use are standard all through the measurements and fits comfortably well.

SCOPE OF WORK

This is to really zero in on the specific challenges which this project is facing which is capital, because there is need for bulk capital in order to make it work, to buy the fabrics and other supplies in a way that will be cost-effective, which is in turn where the profit margin will draw at.

COST OF PRODUCTION

Below is a detailed outlined expository explanation of the cost of production:

  • I’m buying 200 yards each of 25 different colours of round neck t-shirt fabrics.

  • T-shirt fabric is sold at N280 per yard at ngwua road, ABA, Abia state, as opposed to the N650 I do buy from yaba, in Lagos.

  • N25 naira calculated on every fabric I buy, will be money for my

Transport, accommodation and feeding for all the days I will be in aba for, which is at most 5 days.

  • Calculated transport of fabric from aba to ogun state, which where the

Sewing Factory is and where the production is done, is N30 each on every yard of fabric bought.

  • Cost of production is N280 per t-shirt, which for workers commission, fuel, thread, and other supplies.

CALCULATION OF COST OF PRODUCTION:

  • Materials: N280×5000 = N1,400,000
  • Transport, Feeding and accommodation: N30×5000 = N125,000
  • Transport of goods from aba to Ogun state: N30×5000 = N150,000
  • Production cost: #280×5000 = N1,400,000

SUM TOTAL: N1,400,000 + N125,000 + N150,000 + N1,400,000 = N3,075,000   CALCULATION OF SALES AFTER PRODUCTION:

  • After production, each t-shirt will sell at N1,200 per T-shirt.

  • N1,200 × 5000 pieces of round neck t-shirt = N6,000,000

CALCULATION OF PROFIT

  • N6,000,000 – N3,075,000 = N2,925,000.

PERCENTAGE OF PROFIT

  • ?÷100 × N3,075,000 = 2,925,000
  • That is 100 × N2,925,000 ÷ N3,075,000 = ?
  • Making it N292,500,000 ÷ N3,075,000 = 122

Which makes the profit percentage 95.122% PROCUREMENT OF 3 UNITS OF INDUSTRIAL SEWING MACHINES:

  • These will be used alongside the other industrial sewing machines which are already in the sewing factory.
  • Each industrial sewing machines costs: N208,000
  • untis costs= N180,000 x 3 = N624,000

Sum total of all amount needed is: N624,000 + #3,0750,000 = N3,699,000 FABRIC PROCUREMENT AND PRODUCTION TIME FRAME:

  • Fabric procurement time frame is 7 days.

  • Production time frame is 3 months.

SALES TIME FRAME:

  • Sales time frame after production and distribution is 5 months

SALES MEDIUM AND MEANS TO DRIVE SALES:

  • Distribution in boutiques in Lagos state and ogun state.
