Story:

Meet Pius Nwabueze Arafiena, a Nigerian retiree from Asaba in Oshimili South Local Govt Area of Delta and a beloved member of Anthony’s College Ubulu Uku Class of ’80-’82. Pius is currently facing a life-altering challenge: he has lost sight in both eyes after undergoing a damaging surgery.

The Urgent Need:

Specialist doctors at Skipper Eye-Q, a leading super-specialty eye hospital located in Victoria Island, Lagos, have determined that Pius urgently needs a Cornea eye transplant for his right eye. This is the only eye that can be salvaged; unfortunately, his left eye is completely and irreversibly damaged.

The total estimated cost for this critical, sight-restoring procedure is Eight Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦8,200,000.00). This amount covers the PKP & VIT IRIS CLAW, the surgery itself, and essential medications.

Our Appeal:

As his classmates, we have been working tirelessly to raise funds for Pius. We’ve managed to cover some of his initial hospital bills, numerous tests, medications, and consultation fees. However, we are far from our goal, and time is running out. The surgery has already been postponed twice due to a lack of funds and is now scheduled for August 2025. Every day that passes without the necessary funds puts Pius’s chance of seeing again at greater risk.
