Campaign Story
As the case is in Nigeria, Older persons in Ukpo Community and other south eastern communities in Nigeria, are increasingly facing the harsh realities of aging without support—limited access to healthcare, social isolation, and economic vulnerability. This project seeks to restore dignity, well-being, and hope to at least 100 older persons and their primary caregivers by:
- Enrolling elders into a health insurance scheme,
- Setting up a Healthy Aging Clinic within an existing community health center,
- Providing essential mobility and hygiene supplies,
- Training community caregivers, and
- Empowering unemployed caregivers of older persons to start small income-generating activities.
We are seeking to raise ₦10,000,000 to implement this holistic, community-based elder care model. Your support can transform the lives of vulnerable elders and their caregivers—ensuring they are not forgotten.
The Need
In Nigeria Community, most older adults:
- Cannot afford hospital bills or drugs for chronic conditions.
- Have no access to routine health check-ups or monitoring.
- Experience loneliness and isolation, with no social activities or peer support.
- Rely on family members—often jobless or overwhelmed—for care and survival.
Without structured care, basic equipment, or financial relief, both older persons and their caregivers suffer needlessly.
