We never imagined our world would be turned upside down this way… but here we are — at a crossroads between hope and helplessness.
My wife, Rebecca Akande, has always been the pillar of our home. A soft-spoken woman of strength. A mother whose love runs deep. A wife whose prayers have covered us for years. But today, she lies in a hospital bed in Lugbe, Abuja, barely able to speak, move, or hold her children — because Stage 4 breast cancer is ravaging her body.
This is not just breast cancer. It has spread to her brain, spine, hips, and even her internal organs. The pain she feels is unimaginable. Every hour is a battle. Every breath is a miracle.
We’ve been in and out of hospitals for over a year. As at last year, each chemotherapy session cost us ₦250,000 every three weeks. We sold, borrowed, begged — and kept going. But in the last two months alone, she’s been admitted again… weak, unable to walk. The doctors said she now needs urgent hip surgery, costing ₦550,000, before she can resume chemo again.
We are financially drained. Emotionally, we’re hanging on by grace. But we believe God still writes miracles through men — through you.
We’re not asking for luxury. We’re asking for life. For the chance to give our children their mother back. For the opportunity to let this woman — who has served her family and community with everything — fight for her survival.
