Campaign Story

I’m Sampson-Wichegbule Precious, 24 years old, from Nigeria, I lost my Dad in 2017, my Mom is the only one supporting me right now. I’m pleading for financial aid to assist me on my journey to becoming a Data Analyst.
Currently I’m an OND student of Petroleum Training Institute (P.T.I), Effurun, Delta State, studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering. I’m not very passionate about studying this course but my Mom insists on me pursuing a conventional career path and going through conventional education to achieve this. Honestly, I only complied because she foots all my bills but I’m at my limit I can barely cope with the rigorous academic work load that I absolutely do not enjoy (if it was rigorous and I enjoyed it, I wouldn’t complain). Attempts to tell her about my predicament just end in threats of her cutting me off financially and putting an end to whatever benefits she had planned for me after I finished schooling. I do menial jobs from time to time but it’s not enough to foot my living expenses and embark on my Data Analyst Journey. If I had the financial backing I would readily throw myself into learning whatever I needed to become a Data Analyst. I really love the work Data Analyst do; combing through information, extracting useable data, identifying key trends and transforming it all into applicable intelligence are the most thrilling parts of this career path. It may not be as lucrative as Engineering but it’s certainly something I truly enjoy doing. Currently all I have is a low end phone that allows me to watch YouTube tutorials and PDF’s to learn more about my desired career path. I need this money to:
1. buy a laptop I can use to improve my learning experience,
2. rent an apartment, because my Mom is obviously going to kick me out,
3. to pay for online certification from Tableau.
I know she will be disappointed if I go down this path but I have a feeling that all she truly wants is my happiness and being a Data Analyst is what truly brings me happiness. Please, help me embark on this journey of happiness.
