The funds will enable carry out a Project on: Population Dynamics of Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus in New Calabar River, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The reason is because The New Calabar River Supports significant artisanal Fisheries and plays a vital role in the livelihoods of communities like Choba and Ogbogoro. One of its key indigenous fish species, Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus is currently facing pressure from overfishing, habitat degradation, and lack of sustainable management practices. Therefore this fund will help me carry out sincere and extensive research to help proffer better management strategies of this very important Fishery which tend to serve the needs of local inhabitants who sought their livelihood therein.

I am seeking funds to support essential components of my research project, which focuses on the study and management of Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus in the New Calabar River. The funds will be used for the following purposes: 1. Transportation: To cover costs associated with field visits, including hiring boats for river sampling and renting fishing gear such as nets needed for specimen collection. 2. Specimen Acquisition:To enable the purchase or capture of live specimens required for detailed morphometric studies, which are crucial for understanding the species’ growth and structural variations. 3. Logistics and Data Collection: To facilitate on-site data collection, including expenses related to transportation of materials, field assistants, and other logistical needs. 4. Data Analysis:To cover costs of specialized data analysis, including the use of statistical software, consultancy services, and expert guidance necessary for accurate interpretation of findings. 5. Documentation and Reporting: To fund the printing and production of my dissertation, final report, and related presentation materials for submission and dissemination. These funds will ensure that the project is carried out efficiently, from fieldwork to final reporting, enabling meaningful contributions to fisheries management and conservation efforts.
