My poultry farm is going to be standard commercial poultry farm hence will be involved in raising, processing and marketing chickens on a commercial level; I will export chickens, processed chickens to other states around Nigeria.
I am in the commercial poultry farm line of business because i want to leverage on the vast opportunities available in the agriculture industry, to contribute my quota in growing the Republic of Nigeria’s economy, in national food production, and also to export chicken to other states to make profit.Muazu poultry Farm is well positioned to become one of the leading commercial poultry farms business in the North Eastern part of Nigeria ,which is why I have been able to source for the best place and location to run the mini business before it grows.

At Muazu poultry Farm, my customer’s best interest will always come first, and everything I do will be guided by my values and professional ethics.

Business Structure:

Muazu poultry farm is a small and privately owned and managed by Mr.Muazu Ammar in Adamawa state Nigeria,but hope to grow big in order to compete favourably with leading commercial poultry farms in Nigeria and outside the country.

I am aware of the importance of building a solid business structure that can support the picture of the kind of world class business i want to own. This is why I am committed to only hire the best hands within our area of operations,but for now I’m starting alone.

At Muazu Poultry Farm, I will ensure that i hire people that are qualified, hardworking and creative.

 

SWOT Analysis:

Muazu Poultry Farm do not intend to launch out with trial and error hence the need to conduct a proper SWOT analysis.

I know that if I get it right from the onset, I would have succeeded in creating the foundation that will help me build a standard commercial poultry farmthat will favorably compete with leading commercial poultry farms in Adamawa and in the rest part of the country.

STRENGTH:

My strength as a commercial poultry farmer is the fact that i have healthy relationships with loads of major players (agriculture merchants) in the  community both suppliers of poultry feeds and medications and buyers of chickens within the state.

WEAKNESS:

As a new commercial poultry farmer,perhaps it might take me sometime to attract big time customers . I am aware of this and from my projection i will overcome this weakness with time and turn it to a major advantage for the business.

OPPORTUNITIES:

The opportunities that are available to me as a standard commercial poultry farmer cannot be quantified,i know that there are loads of households, and businesses such as hotels and fast food restaurants that can’t do without daily supply of chicken I am well positioned to take advantage of this opportunity.

THREATS:

some of the threats and challenges that I am likely going to face when I start my own commercial poultry farm  are global economic downturn that can impact negatively on household spending, bad weather cum natural disasters (draughts, epidemics) and the arrival of a competitor (a commercial farm that engage in the rearing of chickens and other birds) within same location.

There is hardly anything you can do as regards this threats and challenges other than to be optimistic that things will continue to work for your good.

MARKET ANALYSIS:

My Target Market;

Naturally, the target market of those who are the end consumer of commercial poultry farm produce and also those who benefits from the business value chain of the poultry farming is all encompassing; it is far – reaching.

Every household consumes produce from commercial poultry farms be it chicken . So also almost all hotels and fast restaurants sell chicken. In essence a commercial poultry farmer should be able to sell his or her chicken to as many people as possible.

 

In view of that, I have positioned my business to attract consumers of chickens not just within my community alone but also other parts of the state.I have conducted my market research and survey and I will ensure that i meet and surpass the expectations i set for the business.

Below is a list of the people and business that I will market our chickens to;

SALES AND MARKETING STRATEGIES:

I am quite aware that the reason why some commercial poultry farms  companies hardly make good profits is their inability to sell off their chickens  when due.

I have perfected my sale and marketing strategies first by networking

with businesses that rely on daily supply of chicken that are likely to become my customers.

In summary, Muazu Poultry Farm will adopt the following strategies in marketing;

• Introduce my business by sending introductory letters alongside our brochure to stake holders in the agriculture industry, households, hotels and restaurants.

• Advertise my business in agriculture and food related magazines and websites

• List my commercial poultry business on  ads

• Attend related agriculture and food expos, seminars, and business fairs et al

• Leverage on the internet to promote my business

• Engage in direct marketing

• Encourage the use of Word of mouth marketing (referrals)

FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS AND COSTING:

When it comes to calculating the cost of starting a commercial poultry farm, there are some key factors that should serve as a guide. The different type of birds to be raised in a commercial poultry farm determines the total cost of setting up the business.

START UP BUDGET AND EXPENDITURE:

In setting up any business, the amount or cost will depend on the approach and scale you want to undertake. If you intend to go big by renting / leasing a big facility, then you would need a good amount of capital as you would need to ensure that your employees are well taken care of, and that your facility is conducive enough for workers to be creative and productive.

This means that the start-up can either be low or high depending on your goals, vision and aspirations for your business. The tools and equipment that will be used are nearly the same cost everywhere, and any difference in prices would be minimal and can be overlooked.

As for the detailed cost analysis for starting a commercial poultry farm it might differ in other countries due to the value of their money. Below are some of the basic areas i will spend to start up capital in setting up my Poultry farm.

•Two bags of stater feeds #6400 per bag making #12,800

•One bag of grower feeds #4700 per bag

•Three bags of finisher feeds #5500 per bag making #16500

Muazu poultry farms business is for the purpose of maximizing profits hence I have decided to explore all the available opportunities within my range to achieve my corporate goals and objectives.

Below is the source i intend exploring to generate income for Muazu Poultry Farm;

Raising, processing and marketing chickens on a commercial level.

GENERATING START UP FUNDS:

No matter how fantastic your business idea might be, if you don’t have the required money to finance the business, the business might not become a reality. Finance is a very important factor when it comes to starting a business such as commercial poultry farming. No doubt raising start – up capital for a business might not come cheap, but it is a task that an entrepreneur must go through.

Muazu Poultry Farm is a private  business that is why i decided to restrict the sourcing of the start up capital to 3 major sources.

These are the areas i intend generating my start up capital;

• Generate part of the start up capital from personal savings

• Source for soft loans from family members and friends

• Apply for loan from my Bank

NB:

If someone is able to invest that 31000 Naira without lost the person would be able to get back the sun of 41000Naira in two months that’s 10thousand naira profit because with that 31000 naira I can generate 75000naira. 750000-41000 is 34000 and out of the 34000 I will use 31000 to purchase another chicks and my profit will be 3 thousand naira only.As time moves I will continue to go grow.
