Campaign Story
Hello Everyone,
My name is Godstime Emmanuel, and I am a determined and hardworking student from Nigeria, currently in my second year at Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State. My educational journey has been nothing short of a battle—one filled with struggles, sacrifices, and unwavering resilience. Today, I find myself at a critical point where I need your support to continue my studies.
My Background and Struggles in Secondary School
Growing up, life was never easy for me. From a young age, I understood the weight of financial struggles, as my parents have never been financially stable. Despite their best efforts, they could not provide the resources I needed for my education. However, I refused to let my circumstances define my future.
I completed my secondary school education in 2019, but the journey was far from smooth. I often went to school without the necessary materials, struggled to afford textbooks, and sometimes had to walk long distances just to attend classes. There were days I barely had enough to eat, but I remained focused on my dreams. Many of my classmates had the luxury of financial support from their families, but I had to find ways to survive on my own.
Determined to Go to University Without Any Help
After finishing secondary school, I faced the harsh reality that there was no one to help me with university expenses. But I refused to give up. I made a decision—I would put myself through university, no matter what it took.
I started working various small jobs, saving every little amount I could. It was difficult because finding decent-paying work as a young school leaver in Nigeria is challenging. I took on labor-intensive jobs, did freelance work, and engaged in any legitimate hustle that could help me gather money for school. It wasn’t easy, but after much sacrifice, I was able to save just enough to get into Nigeria Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta State.
My Challenges in University – Struggling to Stay Afloat
Now in my second year, the financial burden has become overwhelming. My university education requires more than just tuition fees—it demands additional costs such as:
School Fees – A huge challenge I am struggling to meet.
Uniforms & Boots – Essential for my program, yet unaffordable at the moment.
House Rent – Since the school hostel is full, I have to find a place to stay, which adds to my financial struggles.
Daily Living Expenses – Feeding, transportation, and basic needs are becoming increasingly difficult to afford.
Since my first-year holiday, I have been working tirelessly to raise money, hoping to gather enough to cover my expenses. However, despite all my efforts, the only money I have been able to save is just ₦50,000, which is not even enough to cover my transportation from Lagos back to school, let alone pay my fees or rent a place to stay.
No Financial Support from My Parents
From the very beginning, I have been on my own regarding my education. My parents, though supportive in spirit, simply do not have the financial means to assist me. This means that every fee, every meal, and every expense I have encountered in my educational journey has been my responsibility.
The reality is heartbreaking, but I refuse to let it break me. I have come too far to stop now.
