Short Story
EMPLOYABILITY CAMPUS TOUR: FROM ACADEMICS TO EMPLOYABILITY
We’re raising funds to run the Employability Campus Tour 2025 across five Bayelsa campuses—Nigeria Delta University, Federal University Otuoke, University of Africa, Bayelsa Medical University, and The Bayelsa Polytechnic. Each one-day event will feature:
– Keynote addresses on future work trends
– Panel discussions with employers, alumni, tech experts
– Hands-on workshops in entrepreneurship and career development
– Alumni roundtables sharing lived experiences
– Speed-networking sessions linking students to mentors, internships, and jobs
Beyond the physical events, funds will support online mentoring communities, monthly webinars, and ongoing opportunity alerts. This integrated model will empower over 750 final-year students and recent graduates to leap into jobs, internships, and entrepreneurial ventures with confidence—and practical skills.
Across Nigeria, many graduates are academically successful, but they often lack the digital fluency, intrapreneurial mindset, and professional network that employers demand. National data shows that only 7% of Nigerian youth possess marketable ICT skills, and over 50% face unemployment due to skills mismatches. At this pivotal moment, with AI and automation transforming the labour market, it’s critical to equip these young people before they graduate. Bayelsa remains underserved by structured career-readiness programmes, creating a gap between talent and opportunity. Our tour responds directly to this need: raising funds now means launching vital interventions ahead of graduation, when impact is optimised and potential is unleashed.
Your donation powers real change. With your support, over 500 young people per campus in Bayelsa State will gain vital skills for today’s economy—digital tools like cloud technology and AI basics, CV writing, personal branding, leadership development, interview practice, and business modelling. They won’t walk this journey alone. More than 50 workshop leads, alumni mentors, industry experts, and employers will guide them—sharing real-world insight and opening doors to professional networks that are often out of reach. Beyond the classroom, students stay engaged through monthly webinars, mentorship pairings, and weekly alerts for jobs, internships, and funding opportunities. This isn’t just training; it’s a pipeline to tangible outcomes—internship placements, job entries, start-up launches, and a future-ready workforce. We track impact with pre- and post-programme surveys, mentor match success, and follow-ups on where opportunities lead. These outcomes are clearly documented and shared with our donors—so you’ll see exactly how your gift is making a difference. In a region where potential is high but opportunities are scarce, your donation helps transform hope into action and promise into productivity.

Campaign Story
Nigeria’s graduate unemployment crisis is real. Over 58.9% of HND holders, 49.6% of OND holders, and 39.8% of BSc graduates are unemployed. More than 25 million Nigerian graduates are jobless, and of the 40.1 million with tertiary education, only 14.6 million are formally employed. A widening skills gap, poor career readiness, and limited industry exposure are some of the key contributors to this alarming reality.
The Employability Campus Tour is an initiative that bridges the gap between university education and the world of work. It is designed to equip undergraduates and recent graduates across Nigerian campuses with the critical skills, mindset, and networks needed to thrive in today’s competitive job market. It is not just a conference—it’s a movement transforming how students prepare for life after school.
Through interactive workshops, real-time mentoring, practical training, and exposure to industry experts, the Tour helps participants build essential employability skills: communication, leadership, digital literacy, problem-solving, CV writing, and interview readiness. Attendees get to engage with talent managers, recruiters, and business leaders, often securing internships, mentorships, and job offers during the programme.
This Tour humanises statistics. A final-year student uncertain about her future leaves with not only a plan but also an internship offer. Another gains confidence after a practical media workshop and finally sees a career path worth chasing.
With Nigeria’s youth making up over 70% of the population, empowering them is not optional—it’s urgent. The Employability Campus Tour provides the direction, tools, and support students need to transition from the classroom into careers. It is shaping Nigeria’s future workforce—one campus at a time.
