Story By Chigozie Effe
For six years now, Maduabuchi Onyemaizu had been carrying a burden too heavy for him and help seems to alude him as his parents can’t afford to provide 1.3million for his surgery.
He is from a very poor home where feeding is a problem let alone footing hospital billls.
A native of Umobia, Olokoro, Umuahia, Abia State, Maduabuchi is talented footballer. He finds time to play football despite the storm he is passing through.
Why do you play football? He said, “it’s my passion and it makes me happy despite the pain am going through”.
Maduabuchi, 22, said it all started in 2014 when he had an abnormal growth around his mouth and he laid complaint which led to his first surgery ever since then the problem migrated to bigger one.
According to Dr Chikwendu Ejike, who is the Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial, Federal Medical Center, Owerri, he said after all the investigation on Maduabuchi’s case, he would need at least 1.3 million to carry out a surgery at the facility.
A visit to Maduabuchi’s home over the weekend as sponsored by Kate Keke, Founder Box Aid Charity, shows a young man who is determined to live but constrained by lack of financial support.
