Osu caste system in igboland is no longer a breaking news, as many individuals and organizations have in the past and present campaigned against its continued practice, but little or no success has been made. It is a discriminatory ,inhumane and dehumanizing tradition practiced by our ancestors, which the present generation has refused to abolish. We in Ifetacsios, recognize that it is in the subconscious of our people. It’s psychological and the fear that the gods will wreck havoc if it’s abrogated is a strong factor. Our group (Ifetacsios) have been going from one community to another through the traditional rulers with our reorientation and reconciliation programs to develop their minds and mental capacity to realize that it was created in darkness and to accept the change before it can be abolished. So that we don’t just abolish it, while people continue with the practice.
This evil and unpleasant tradition has created rancor, war and killings in the igbo communities.
