Campaign Story
My name is Abdulmajid Abubakar, an Environmentalist, a Natural Resource Manager, and a Climate Activist from Nigeria. I am the funder/project coordinator of Eyes on the Environment Initiative. As a youth from the global south, I understood the realities of life. We in Africa experience most of the devastating effects of climate change. Yet we do little or no action to adapt and mitigate it. This can be due to our low level of education, high poverty rate, and lack of technological advancements. I am a victim of loss and damage. As a student, I took a loan to start a rice farm but unfortunately, I lost it to a flood and had to pay the loan off. This experience made me ask this question; are we doing enough to proffer solutions? I was given an acknowledgment to attend the United Nations Conference of Party COP27, in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt, come November 2022. I wish to attend this important conference so that I will represent the African Youths, and speak for the victims of the loss and damage. But unfortunately, I can not afford to attend the African Conference due to my financial status.
- I am soliciting for funding that will cover my return ticket and accommodation for my stay in Sharm El-Sheik. This will mean a lot to me and the grassroots community.

Dear Abdulmajid, you are a very inspiring person and your story and impact should be heard by the world. I really wish you to reach COP27 this year and have the opportunity to carry your important messages to our world decision makers. Your role there is so important to remind everyone of the climate injustice we are in and therefore the financial efforts the countries need to put together to help support loss and damages for countries like Nigeria suffering already catastrophic consequences of the impact of climate change. I hope I could do more. All my best, Sandra
