Campaign Story

DONATE A PARK BENCH PROGRAM

The Yandev Forest Plantation is one among the 52 gazetted Forest Reserves in Benue State. Established in 1935 by the colonial administration.

Available records from the Ministry of Water Resources and Environment Makurdi reveals that the plantation originally covered about 331 hectares of land as of the time of reservation. However, a field survey of the forest reserve and satellite images from Google Earth Map has shown that the reserve now occupies only 36 hectares of land.

A field trip to the reserve shows that human activities are threatening the existence of the Forest Plantations.

If adequate conservation measures are not put in place, the Forest reserve will  be degraded completely in a few years .

It is for this reason that: PORKFEST-NG a community based group with vested interest in nature, forest, parks, Gardens and recreational activities has volunteered to restore the park and provide a childrens playground and park benches at the Yandev Forest Reserve.

You can support us by donating to this cause.

The Park Bench Program is designed to restore the Yandev forest park by encouraging community members to donate benches or other park furnishings to enable us replant the forest and rebuild the park.

We are calling on individuals, local businesses, charities, philanthropist or groups to donate to our project.

Items can be personalized with a plaque or custom engraved for recognizing the donor, a community group, a memorial bench dedicated to a loved one, or a customized message.

Trees are precious, let’s preserve them.

We all owe mother earth a duty to replant the forest and preserve the earth.

Thank you all.
